Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader Medha Patkar, criticising the Madhya Pradesh Government on Global Investors’ Summit (GIS), said that the oustees of Sardar Sarovar Dam Project have not been allotted land, but announced to allot 10,000 acre land bank for the industrialists in the State.
Patkar, talking to media, said that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has assured the industrialists that 15,000 acre of land could be acquired with immediate effect for the purpose of establishing industries. Patkar asked that when the Government refused the Sardar Sarovar Dam affected people to provide land because of unavailability, then how it has land bank for the corporate biggies.

NBA leader said that the Government has duped thousands of families as they were not provided land, which can be used for agriculture. Patkar said, even Jha Commission said that corruption was rampant due to wrong policy of providing cash amount to the oustees.
Patkar said the matter of providing land to the industrialists should be brought before public that how land will be provided to the industrialists and whether all necessary permissions have been taken from Gram Sabha.

Patkar alleged that the assurance of providing water through Narmada-Shiksha, Narmada Gambhir, Narmada-Mahi and Narmada-Kaliyasot will be crisis for Narmada river itself.

She said that Union Minister of State for Environment Anil Madhav Dave was also present in GIS and he should clarify whether the effect on environment has been assessed prior to provide water from Narmada.
