In November 2015, the Independent People’s Tribunal issued its Report on Claims and Realities of Development and Rehabilitation, Madhya Pradesh, India.

This report is based on field visits to various affected villages and large pubic hearing at Badwani by a Panel of four retried Justices of various High Courts in September, 2015. The Panel included (Retd.) Panachand Jain, Jst. (Retd.) Nagmohan Das, Jst. (Retd.) V.D. Gyani and Jst. (Retd.) N.K. Mody.

The Tribunal was called by eminent citizens including Jst. Rajinder Sachar, Syeda Hammed, Anand Patwardhan, Ramdas Bhatkal, Prof. Anil Sadgopal and Sagar Sarhadi to verify the observations of the Fact-Finding Report (May, 2015) and recommend appropriate measures for safeguarding people’s constitutional rights.

The Tribunal heard a large number of testimonies, verified voluminous documents and concluded a grave human disaster of submergence without completion of R&R measures to the satisfaction of the Supreme Court within the framework of law.
