The Indian Express, July 19 2016, Ahmedabad: A three-day long convention of various activists from around 15 states concluded at Gujarat Vidyapith here. It was organised under the banner of Bhumi Adhikar Andolan and it attended by activists like Medha Patkar, Ulka Mahajan, Rohit Prajapati, Dr Sunilam, Hiren Gandhi and Hannan Mollah (former LS MP and CPI-M leader). Following the convention, the activists demanded immediate implementation of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. Addressing the media, Mollah said that the current union government had betrayed farmers by trying to bringing in an ordinance while amending the pro-farmer provisions of the LARR Act in favour of the corporates.

Meanwhile, Medha Patkar arrived in Kevadia Colony to meet the protesting displaced families of the Narmada Dam who have been on a hunger strike regarding their relocation problems.
