The Free Press Journal, Oct 27 2016, Bhopal: Taking a dig at the government over Global Investors Submit (GIS), Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) has asked it to come out with details of the land bank created for corporate groups. “One the one hand, the oustees of various dam projects have not been allotted land so far, on the other hand, the government has assured industrialists to allot 15,000 acres for industries”, the NBA Medha Patkar said.
She said, “There are 45,000 oustees of Sardar Sarovar Project and they are still landless. Before elections, CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan had announced that they would be paid Rs 5 lakh per acre as compensation but that has not been done. For the corporate sector, the state government is making a single window but farmers are running from pillar to post for compensation.”
She said, “The state government is entertaining global investors but ignoring local ones like small businessmen, farmers and workers who are real assets of any state. Similarly, government has promised all kinds of facilities like water and power for the corporate sectors. The industries will be supplied Narmada water.
In Gujarat, while there is no dearth of water for Ambani, Adani and Coco Cola, the common man is suffering. A similar situation will arise in MP too, she said.
