The report “Performance and Development Effectiveness of the Sardar Sarovar Project” was issued by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in August 2008. It provides for a critical appraisal of the social, environmental and financial Costs vis-à-vis actual benefits and impacts of the SSP and the status of R&R of the affected people. The Report recommended a serious review of all aspects of the dam at 121.92 mts before further construction.
